How do the roots run through?

I’m Rachel,

lover of animals, music, and the sweet reward of something fizzy after a hike through rough terrain. I am shaped by cultural immersion and nature connection. I specialize in brand design with five years of nonprofit marketing experience and a BS in creative advertising from Ball State University. Through extended stays in the forest and adventures in between, I create my own art along the way.

Origins

To create is to lean into the nonlinear process of life and emerge cohesive with color.

I found my heart in Jiquillilo and have been journeying toward color ever since.

It was 2014.

I traveled through art where I met an unwavering presence that formed through the drawing of unintended symbols. A presence who saw through my skin and beyond my bones.

Appearing softly grounded yet fierce and wise, she messaged me to begin. To unravel the unknown and clear trails to discover what was my own.

It was 2015.

She planted herself within me and began illuminating the way through experiences of variety and truth. Filling with fluorescence and lessons, I began developing a tangible embodiment of her and the world she introduced. The one she was experiencing alongside mine.

It was 2016. It was 2017.

I left work at an ad agency a year after I earned my degree to to work with impactful nonprofits on my own.

It was 2018.

With two organizations under my belt and currently working with a wilderness academy, I underwent an eight month Inner Tracking course that culminated in a Vision Quest. After fasting alone in the wilderness alone for four nights, it became clear to me that I was to begin to consolidate my artwork and writing into a book.

It was 2020.

This presence and I had grown wild yet rooted with stems fully formed. We worked and we evolved again and again with trust in the color that came. An arduous liberation of balancing both dark and light. It is now 2025 that we are ready to ignite.

Together, we bloom.
